There can be few sweeter sights than that of very small children dancing. Six little girls danced the dance of light for the guests at the Hindu Council celebration for Diwali at Millenium Point on Sunday, carrying tiny lights and in their pretty sequinned dresses - the grownups were entranced.

I met three angels last week. They looked mortal, but I was assured by the patients and carers of the Lung Cancer Support Group that they were real angels because the amazing care and help they gave to patients and their loved ones.

Lorely's Law finally had its second reading in Parliament last Friday. In an intense debate lasting three and a half hours MPs from all sides of the house discussed the Bill and the problems which had moved me to bring it forward after only a few weeks of being an MP.

A cemetery may be a place for the dead, but it is a highly significant place for many of the living who visit to remember and honour their loved ones. So any disturbance to the tranquillity, let alone to the memorial stone, is bound to be upsetting.

Hospital parking charges have been the subject of complaints from many of you recently. One constituent had paid over £300 in hospital parking charges over the course of three months' treatment for cancer, and one of my staff who is disabled had to pay parking charges to park in disabled bays - 'it wasn't cheap,' she said.

Spending a penny just became more difficult in Solihull. Like many residents I woke to the news that Solihull will be closing toilets throughout the Borough to save less than 1% of its budget with dismay.

A small bombshell was quietly dropped in the form of an advert appearing in the pages of a local paper over recent days. I hadn't spotted it because I don't scan the public notices as a rule. If there's any planning matter which is going to affect the lives of people in Solihull I generally get it from the planning application list.

I was intrigued to receive a phone message from the Sunday Times this week. It read 'As Solihull has one of the best records of good youth behaviour in the country, they'd like to talk to you about how Solihull has achieved this'.

Birmingham International Airport has now been officially confirmed as the Midlands airport destined for expansion under the Government's airport expansion plans. 31st March is the deadline for anyone wishing to contribute to the Birmingham Airport consultation on the so-called 'Masterplan'.
