Solihull MP Lorely Burt at the site of the red route madness
Solihull MP Lorely Burt today spoke out about red route 'no stopping' markings on a side road set back from the A34 Stratford Road in Shirley, where the scheme has been introduced. Lorely has also launched an on line opinion poll for local residents to have their say.
The Lib Dem MP holds one of her weekly surgeries in nearby Shirley Library, and noticed that the restrictive red lines had been painted along most of the length of the unnamed road between School Road and Church Road.
"I could hardly believe it" exclaimed Lorely. "I came out of my surgery last week and there it was - red lines down a road that is so important it doesn't even have a name for it in my A to Z.
"The road is set back from the Stratford Road, and hardly qualifies as a major thoroughfare," added the Lib Dem MP for Solihull. "Have we gone red route mad?"
