Solihull MP backs NHS watch website

October 30, 2005 10:00 AM

Solihull MP Lorely Burt has given her backing to a new website, www.LibDemNHSwatch.com, dedicated to monitor the state of the NHS.

Lorely Burt MP said: "LibDem Shadow Health Minister, Steve Webb MP has established the site for NHS staff, patients and members of the public to post their views and help paint a true picture of the National Health Service.

"As Liberal Democrats we believe in the National Health Service and we want to see it prosper. But this also means pointing out where Labour's reforms are going wrong.

"To help improve the NHS we need to hear from patients who have difficulty accessing treatment and from professionals prevented from providing the services the community needs.

"Currently, there are few outlets for people to tell their stories or expose issues that point to larger problems. The Government would rather these stories do not see the light of day. We disagree. www.LibDemNHSWatch.com will allow us to identify which NHS reforms are working and which are not, which targets distort clinical priorities and which issues those inside the 'Westminster bubble' really need to know about."

If you are a resident of the Solihull constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
