Solihull's Member of Parliament Lorely Burt is urging constituents to take small steps in the home to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and combat global warming.
Lorely is backing a campaign by the Energy Saving Trust, encouraging householders in Solihull to match the Government target of a 20% reduction of carbon emissions by 2010, by reducing energy use in their own homes.
"Government has a big responsibility to cut carbon emissions in the UK if we are to combat global warming, but we shouldn't leave it all to politicians. We can all play a small but significant part by taking measures to save energy in our own homes.
"Measures such as installing energy efficient light bulbs, turning the thermostat down by one degree, installing loft and cavity wall insulation and walking short distances instead of taking the car will have a large impact," said the Solihull MP
Mrs Burt will be voting in Parliament to support a Bill promoting energy efficiency measures this week.
