Lorely Burt, Member of Parliament for Solihull, has requested a debate in the House of Commons on windfall development:
'Thank you Mr Deputy Speaker
Could I ask the Leader of the House if we could have a debate on Planning Rules, and specifically PPG 3 which designates people's back gardens as brownfield sites.
This enables developers to exploit 'windfall development' sites before true brownfield sites for which the rules were intended.
The effect, in my constituency of Solihull as in many other leafy suburbs, is to destroy the character of the area with unwelcome and often inappropriate developments'.
House of Commons Business Questions, 1st December 2005.
