They say Christmas is a season of goodwill towards all men, and presumably women and children as well. As I've been visiting local companies this year, it has struck me just how keen some businesses are to do something for their local community. This can be in the form of providing sports equipment and support for local children's and adults sports teams (Land Rover), to building a wonderful shower specially adapted for disabled people for Warren Pearl (Federation of Master Builders).
Several companies have asked me if I know of anyone out there who would like to help. Offers I've had are for building projects and volunteers to help brighten up our community and the lives of local residents.
So I'm asking you - have you a local community project which could benefit from a little cash or some voluntary help? If you've asking for help, or offering it, please go to my website at www.lorelyburt.org.uk or e-mail burtl@parliament.uk. You can also write to my local office at 41 Warwick Road, Solihull, B92 7HS.
It's nice to think that people are giving real help out of the kindness of their hearts all year round, not just at Christmas.
Have a very Happy Christmas, and a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year.
With best wishes,
Lorely Burt
