Solihull MP reacts angrily to Fowgay Hall decision

February 28, 2006 2:54 PM

Solihull's MP, Lorely Burt has reacted angrily to the granting of the developer's appeal in respect of Fowgay Hall.

Lorely Burt said:

"The Government Inspector has clearly disregarded the wishes of local residents who wanted to retain this historic building.

Now we have to fight an over crowded development on a busy corner with hundreds of children trying to make their way to and from school.

"My Bill, which receives its second reading this Friday, would not allow such a development; gardens will be re-designated as green and

not brownfield sites, and applications for significant developments such as this one would normally be refused.

"Further, the right of appeal to the Secretary of State would be extended to residents affected by the application, not just the

developer."

If you are a resident of the Solihull constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
