Lorely Burt, Liberal Democrat MP for Solihull, has visited a National Childbirth Trust meeting in Solihull as part of the Breastfeeding Awareness Week.
Commenting on her visit, Lorely said,
"Chatting with the new mothers here, I was appalled to be told by one mother that she had to go and sit on the toilet because there was no where else for her to feed her child in private.
"Not all mothers are comfortable breastfeeding in public, so it's important that they have somewhere they can do so in private.
"I've written to the Council asking for a list of all places in Solihull and Shirley where there are suitable spaces for mothers to breastfeed in private.
"I also want to encourage new mothers to come along to the National Childbirth Trust's meetings at the Renewal Centre on Lode Lane. They are doing a great job in supporting new mums."
