A very jolly group of people from Solihull came to visit Parliament last week. The Moving On Club is for people who have lost their partners through bereavement and who literally feel the time is right to 'move on': make new friends and enjoy life once more.
Many of these lovely people had cared for their loved ones through long illnesses, and told harrowing stories about the strain and isolation of being often the sole carer.
People who commit themselves selflessly in this way deserve not only recognition in that their contribution saves the taxpayer billions, but that they deserve support in the form of financial help and respite relief too.
If you are a carer you should know, and claim, what you are entitled to. Contact Solihull Carers on 0121 788 1143. If you have been bereaved and would be interested in finding out about this friendly bunch who get together for friendship and outings contact 0121 705 9993
And finally if you're a member of a group which would like to visit Parliament I'd be delighted to arrange it for you and welcome you when you get there. Please contact my assistant Hannah on 0207 219 8269.
