Solihull's MP, Lorely Burt congratulated Land Rover today as they passed a historic milestone when the four millionth vehicle rolled off the production line, 59 years after production began at the company's factory in Solihull.
The car, a Discovery 3, was donated to the Born Free Foundation, a charity dedicated to wildlife conservation and animal welfare. It was collected by the actress Joanna Lumley, Born Free's Founder patron, and will become a 'Rapid Response Rescue' vehicle for deployment across the UK and Europe.
Lorely Burt MP said:
"This is a fantastic achievement for Land Rover whose vehicles have been world beaters for so long.
"Land Rover's continued success will help ensure jobs and prosperity in Solihull and across the region for many years to come, and what more fitting tribute to the versatility of the vehicles than for it to be donated to the Born Free Foundation to help with their conservation efforts in the UK."
