Lorely Burt MP is calling on calling on constituents to 'leave it off' to back the UK's first Energy Saving Day (E-day) between 6pm on Wednesday 27 February and 6pm on Thursday 28 February. The day will highlight the potential for energy saving measures in the course of a typical 24 hours.
Lorely Burt MP said:
"During this experiment everyone is asked to see if they can save energy in their home, school or office by switching off electrical items such as lights in rooms that are not being used, televisions left on standby, mobile phone chargers left plugged in. The National Grid will assess what difference the day makes to national energy consumption and the cumulative effects of millions of energy saving measures will be updated on the E-Day website www.e-day.org.uk on a minute-by-minute basis.
"E-day is founded and co-ordinated by Dr. Matt Prescott, a scientist and climate change campaigner who is frequently featured in the media. Energy companies, charities involved in climate change, and other corporate backers have offered their support for E-day and I will be doing my bit in the office and at home to help make the day a success."
