£50 million is available across the country in grants of up to £450,000 for groups who want to make their neighbourhoods cleaner and greener. The funds are being allocated to create and support play areas, community gardens, parks, wildlife areas, ponds, courts, and village greens.

Commenting, Lorely Burt said:
"I'm keen that local groups across the borough should take advantage of the opportunity for lottery funding.
"This is a great opportunity to preserve and enhance our green open spaces for the benefit of all ages and for generations to come.
"We have suffered from the loss of parkland in recent years and this is a great opportunity to make the very best of other areas.
"I am more than happy to lend my support to this scheme."
