MP SEARCHES FOR 'SHIPWRECKED' VOLUNTEER

July 1, 2008 10:20 AM

Solihull's MP, Lorely Burt is looking for a constituent with an interest in politics who would like to be 'shipwrecked' on the idyllic Cook Islands.

She is making the appeal following a request from the Channel 4 makers of Shipwrecked - a survival programme - to find a young, politically active person in Solihull who would be prepared to join a group left to survive on a desert island.

"The format for the next series has changed to provide a platform for more interesting discussion between the desert islanders," said Lorely Burt

"If there is anyone out there who would like to volunteer to take part in this life changing experience, please give my office a ring on 0121 706 9593 or send an email to burtl@parliament.uk and I can put you in touch with the programme makers.

"I'm sure whoever gets the chance to be cast away on the Cook Islands will have the experience of a lifetime - learning to build accommodation, cooking island and working as a team.

"As someone who is politically minded, I'm sure the team would benefit from the resourcefulness and ideas of a young LibDem!" added Lorely.

If you are a resident of the Solihull constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
