MP WELCOMES NEW BUS ROUTE FOR OLTON AND LYNDON

January 5, 2009 1:15 PM

Solihull's MP Lorely Burt, has welcomed plans for a new bus route for Olton and Lyndon following the withdrawal of the 38 bus service from 25th January.

The new S12 service was successfully negotiated with Centro officers by Lib Dem Councillor, Ken Rushen and will replace the missing link between Acocks Green and Sheldon across Lyndon Ward.

Buses will run hourly Mondays to Saturdays from 07.00 to 19.00 (from 08.00 Saturdays). Connections are available at Acocks Green for Birmingham and at Sheldon for the Airport, International Rail Station and the NEC. The S12 will be operated by Silverline and is subsidised by Centro. The full timetable is now available on the Centro web site.

Cllr Ken Rushen said:

"Without our intervention the 38 bus would have been withdrawn without any replacement. The new service will provide a vital link from most parts of Lyndon Ward and Olton to the shops at Acocks Green, Lyndon Road and Sheldon and, for the first time, a direct link from these areas to the Hobs Moat Shops, Library, doctors' surgeries and the Ice Rink. It will be of particular benefit to our senior citizens many of whom don't have access to a car."

Mrs Burt said:

"This is another success story for our local Liberal Democrat team. I am delighted that residents have an enhanced service to replace the 38 and I give it my full support."

If you are a resident of the Solihull constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
