Carbon conscious business partners, Assad Mahmood and Fida Sadiq have been praised by Solihull MP Lorely Burt for their efforts to launch the first carbon neutral taxi service in the borough. The two men recently launched G Cars using Toyota Prius hybrids instead of traditional black cabs or private hire vehicles.
Mr Sadiq said:
"We are delighted to have Lorely's backing for our business venture. The Prius has a carbon footprint of around a third that of a black cab and half that of a normal private hire car.
"We will also offset our carbon footprint of 104 g/km by paying for certificated tree planting quarterly, in advance on projected journeys. In this way we aim to be Solihull's first carbon neutral taxi service."
"This is an exciting enterprise that provides a real choice for travellers who want to reduce their carbon footprint. I wish them every success," said Lorely.
G Cars is based on the Stratford Road in Shirley. To book a taxi with them call 0121 733 8803
