Lorely Burt MP today continued her action to save the maternity services at Solihull Hospital.
In addition to tabling parliamentary questions and an Early Day Motion, Mrs Burt has now launched an online petition on the Downing Street website. This appeal calls on the Prime Minister to reject the proposals to cut maternity services at Solihull Hospital and to ensure that Solihull Hospital is sufficiently funded and equipped to provide a full range of maternity services for local people.
"During my time as MP for Solihull I have mixed with many mums and parents at schools, nurseries, toddlers and childminding groups across the constituency, as well as with new mums and dads at Solihull Hospital itself. Parents always speak very highly of their own experiences of Solihull maternity services," said Lorely.
"Why then, should we be presented with a plan to transfer 75% of births away from our much loved Solihull Hospital?
"This petition is a chance to give a clear message to the Prime Minister that the people of Solihull will not accept such a drastic change to their services, at least not without a fight."

Lorely has also met with the Chief Executive of Solihull's Care Trust and has requested an urgent meeting with the Secretary of State for Health in order to discuss the proposed changes.
