Solihull's MP, Lorely Burt is backing a recently launched Microsoft scheme providing nearly half a million vouchers for access to IT Skills training and apprenticeships, helping to put people into work and enhance career prospects.
Microsoft have announced the major new initiative, 'Britain Works' in collaboration with charities and local authorities to enhance IT skills at all levels in the workplace, and to help people into work.
Commenting today, Lorely said:
"Some 77% of jobs across all sectors of the economy require the use of computer skills in some form, so the initiative - delivered through a combination of new national apprenticeships, targeted skills and employability training and a new job matching service - will help people looking for work across the whole breadth of the job market.
"The programmes on offer provide real opportunities for any Solihull residents who are unemployed and would like to develop their digital literacy skills in order to find a job, or to enhance their career prospects with accredited online training.
"You can find all the details on how this initiative can help at: www.microsoft.com/uk/britainworks or by calling the Britain Works Helpline on 0800 111 4341."
