MP 'DOES HER BIT' FOR ARMED FORCES

November 3, 2009 3:26 PM

With Remembrance Day approaching, Solihull's MP, Lorely Burt joined members of Shirley Royal British Legion Branch and Solihull RAFA to launch their 'Final Week Appeal' from Shirley Library.

Mrs Burt, who has also signed up to the Royal British Legion 'Do Your Bit' campaign, urged constituents to "give generously and wear their poppy with pride".

Mr Burt has pledged to champion calls for improvements to the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme, provision of independent legal advice for bereaved families and ensuring that NHS priority treatment for veterans actually works.

"I fully support the Royal British Legion campaign for fairer compensation, long term care and support for bereaved families," said Lorely.

"The damage done in a moment can take many, many years to heal in mind and body. Injured soldiers and their families should never be forgotten for the sacrifices they have made. "

If you are a resident of the Solihull constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
