Speaking in a Westminster Hall debate in Parliament today, Solihull's MP called on Government appointed consultants, HS2, to include a stop at BIA in their report, due out this month, on plans for a high speed rail link between Birmingham and London.
Mrs Burt said the two-stop solution for Birmingham and BIA was "crucial for the economy of the West Midlands, which has suffered the worst increase in unemployment and the greatest economic downturn of any region.
"Coupled with the runway extension which will allow long haul flights, this will make BIA a truly international airport, bringing in investment from around the globe for the whole region and providing a 45min link to the Capital."
