Conservatives forced to explain Shirley Library move

Solihull Liberal Democrat MP Lorely Burt has slammed the Conservative-controlled council's decision to move Shirley Library despite a council survey showing 80% of library users opposed the move.

Conservative councillors stuck to their original decision after it was called in for scrutiny following an intervention by Lib Dem Council Group Leader Ian Hedley.

Mrs Burt said, "Like the vast majority of Shirley Library users I am deeply disappointed with this decision.

"Conservative council bosses have chosen to ignore their own survey, which showed 80% of library users opposed the move.

"This just shows how arrogant and out of touch they are."
