Lorely Burt MP and Jay Wara discuss Mr Wara's plans for a new business.

Lorely Burt MP today called on the Government to honour its promises to look after ex-Rover employees. The request came after a constituent approached the Solihull MP to find out why no funding had yet been received.

"When MG Rover folded in April, I was promised funding in July" stated Mr Jay Wara, an ex-Rover employee who came to see Lorely as his local MP. "Yet it is now October, and no money appears to be in sight."

Mr Wara aims to set up his own business, but needs start-up funding to get the business off the ground.

"Here we have somebody who has responded to the challenge of redundancy in the way the Government had hoped" exclaimed Lorely. "And yet months down the line, Mr Wara hasn't got any funding."

"The Government and the authorities promised to look after the Rover employees" added Lorely. "It's time they upheld that promise. I have therefore written to Business Development Service and Advantage West Midlands to find out why there has been such a delay."
