Solihull Member of Parliament steps up campaign against Manor Cottage development

6.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 19th Oct 2005

Solihull Member of Parliament Lorely Burt is stepping up the campaign against the development of Manor Cottage in Manor Road.

Developers have their eye on the cottage after the present occupants decided to leave the property because of over-intensive windfall development in the road. A developer has applied to demolish Manor Cottage and replace it with six dwellings.

Lorely says "I have written a formal letter of objection to Solihull council as I feel this proposal is wholly inappropriate. I will continue the fight on behalf of Solihull residents to defend the unique character of Solihull".

Lorely's Law, which was introduced to Parliament before the summer recess, will have its second reading in February. Lorely commented "I look forward to taking this bill forward and hope it will receive the support it requires in Parliament to become law".
