Solihull's MP, Lorely Burt has been short-listed for a prestigious award during her first term in parliament.

The Lib Dem MP was nominated by the National Association of Garden Trusts for promoting her own Commons Bill in an attempt to protect parkland and back gardens from windfall development. She has now been short-listed for a Heritage and Culture Charity Champions award.

Four parliamentarians have been short-listed in the category, and MPs and Peers will now vote for the winner before awards ceremonies for the ePolitix Charity Champions take place in London on 1st December.

"I am very proud to have fulfilled my promise to introduce a Bill to protect parkland and gardens from development" said Mrs Burt. "It is a great honour to have been short-listed for this award during my first year in parliament."
