WASTED NHS COMPUTER FUNDS COULD HAVE GONE TO DIABETES SERVICES - BURT

12.00.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 12th May 2006

Lorely Burt, Liberal Democrat MP for Solihull, has signed Early Day Motion 2056, 'NHS Connecting for Health Computer System', calling for an independent review of the new system and for funds that should be saved to be directed to diabetes services in Solihull.

Commenting as she signed the EDM, Lorely Burt MP said,

"I'm very concerned at the reports that the new NHS computer system may cost billions of pounds more than originally quoted.

"An independent review is urgently needed and the Government must ensure that any money saved must go to services that desperately need it, like a needle disposal service for people with diabetes in Solihull."
