The campaign, backed by carers and pensioners groups, has been launched as part of National Carers' Week.
"Carers Allowance and state retirement pensions are treated as overlapping benefits, resulting in the cutting of the carers allowance as soon as a person reaches retirement age.
"Cutting the Carers Allowance at retirement can cause severe financial hardship for some carers. The State Pension has been earned through national insurance contributions over many years and is an entitlement, not a benefit. The Carers' Allowance provides recognition and financial support for those helping others and should not be affected in any way by reaching retirement age."
