MP SUPPORTS SILHILLIAN CAMPAIGN

4.18.38pm UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 11th Jul 2006

Lorely Burt continues to back the Solihull Times campaign to get the word 'Silhillian' into the Oxford English Dictionary. Speaking in a Westminster Hall Debate on the future of Community Services and Post Offices, Mrs Burt said:

"In Solihull neighbourhood policing has worked most effectively, as has community support. The idea of localisation, of familiarity with one's own local area has been extremely successful for Silhillians and for all in the UK who have been able to enjoy its benefits."

Commenting later, Lorely Burt MP said, 'Silhillian' is a common term to refer to people from Solihull. It deserves its place in the Oxford English Dictionary.
