SOLIHULL MP SUPPORTS RESIDENTS' PARK SELL-OFF PROTEST12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 25th Sep 2006
Solihull's LibDem MP, Lorely Burt joined placard waving residents in a last ditch attempt to save 3 hectares of Shirley Park being eaten up by an Asda superstore. The protest, held outside Solihull Civic Centre, was timed to lobby senior Conservative councillors who were due to approve the decision to annexe the parklands at a Cabinet meeting last Thursday night. Mrs Burt spoke at the meeting but councillors pressed ahead with the decision to approve the annexation of the park as part of the Heart of Shirley development.
