Mrs Burt asked for details of expenditure and found that the Lode Lane, Blossomfield Road and Marshall Lake Road scheme was three times more expensive than any other red route in the borough, costing nearly £2million.
The total cost for four schemes approved for Solihull through the Local Transport Plan is £3.5million, which is an additional funding source for Solihull MBC.
"Whilst some of the safety improvements are welcome, they are totally outweighed by the unnecessary waste of taxpayer's money by painting red lines and festooning the street scene with notices to solve a problem which doesn't exist. I have never seen a car parked on Lode Lane unless it has been broken down," said Lorely Burt
