HEINZ MEANZ BAD NEWS

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 9th Oct 2006

Solihull MP, Lorely Burt, was 'blown away' at the announcement that Solihull will play host to a "beans amnesty" by Heinz at Touchwood this Saturday .

Commenting Lorely Burt said,

"I don't know how they have got the nerve to come peddling their beans in the area, when they have recently announced the loss of 120 local jobs with the closure of the HP factory at Aston . Nevermind their "Beanz Meanz Heinz message" - Heinz Meanz bad news for jobs here. "

Mrs Burt recently wrote to the Managing Director of Heinz to demand the removal of the Houses of Parliament logo from HP sauce bottles following the decision to move production to Holland. They have refused.

"I think the ignorance - and arrogance - of Heinz is breathtaking. They described their stunt venue as Touchwood Birmingham: they didn't even know it was in Solihull. When I called to clarify that this event was to take place on my patch they kindly invited me to attend. What they may not yet realise is they could have bitten off more than they can chew." Mrs Burt added.
