12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 15th Jan 2007

Solihull's MP, Lorely Burt has received reassurances about the future of Solihull A&E following fears raised by constituents who received leaflets through their doors suggesting the service may be at risk.

Mrs Burt responded by visited the Chief Executive of the Heart of England NHS Trust and the senior management team of the Strategic Health Authority looking for straight answers 'from the horses mouth'.

Lorely Burt MP said:

"I asked if there was any possibility, now or in the foreseeable future that A&E at Solihull will close? The answer was a categorical 'no'.

"I hope this will reassure constituents and silence anyone who seeks to make political capital out of suggesting Solihull A&E is at risk."
