Local Liberal Democrats have unanimously reselected Lorely Burt to be their candidate in Solihull at the next General Election. In 2005 Mrs Burt overturned a Conservative majority of over 9,000 to win the seat by 279 votes in one of the shock results of the night.
Recent council election swings to the Liberal Democrats show that, having made the initial breakthrough in Solihull, support for the party is strengthening across the constituency.
"Lorely stormed to victory in 2005 and she has not let up one iota since. She works incredibly hard for the constituency and people recognise the difference she has made. We are extremely proud of what she has achieved and she has received unanimous support from party members to stand again as our Liberal Democrat candidate at the next General Election, whenever it comes."
"I am delighted to have been re-selected and will continue to work for the people of Solihull to the best of my ability."
