SOLIHULL MP WELCOMES PLANS FOR BIA RUNWAY EXTENSION

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 8th Jan 2008

Responding to the announcement from Birmingham International Airport Limited that they have now formally submitted a planning application for a runway extension, Lorely Burt MP said:

"I welcome the extension to the runway in principle because it will provide a boost for the West Midlands economy.

"However, both I and my councillor colleagues will be scrutinising the details of the plan very carefully to ensure that the minimum of green space is lost and minimum disruption takes place to local residents and to local wildlife."
